Leisure Fall Itinerary

Day 1

Thrilling full day activities in the Lake Louise area bring you close to nature and the strikingly golden larches of Fall. Start your weekend getaway with a guided Larch Trail Ride. Move effortlessly on horseback towards the alpine regions of Paradise Valley, where you’ll discover some of the best back country in Banff National Park.

If you’d rather explore the park on foot, take a guided hike with a Mountain Heritage Guide to the Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse. Like the first Canadian mountaineers, you’ll see sweeping glaciers, impressive peaks and views of the blue waters of Lake Louise from every angle. For other exciting hikes you’ll undoubtedly want to experience, check out the “Top 5 Larch Hikes” brochure available at the Parks Canada Visitor Information Centre in Lake Louise.

Finish off your day with a mouth-watering meal - the perfect way to recharge for the next day of fun activities! Local venues are celebrating the Fall Festival with custom menus that include lean Alberta beef and seasonally inspired six course meals.

Tuck in for the night at any one of the charming accommodations located in Lake Louise, whether a luxury hotel, quaint mountain lodge, private cabin or cozy inn.

Day 2

Start your day with a mountain breakfast before embarking on your next Fall adventure! Several hotels are offering special Fall Festival accommodation packages that include a hearty breakfast.

Spend your morning with a local photographer at the Lake Louise Gondola for an alpine photography session. Or join a group for a spectacularly scenic, guided walk amongst the larches at the top of the gondola, followed by a tasty lunch. Either way, be sure to enter your photos in the Fall Festival Photo Contest at the Visitor’s Centre in Lake Louise!

In the afternoon, paddle across the emerald waters of Lake Louise in an authentic 26 foot cedar strip and canvas canoe. As you journey across the lake, your guide will share fascinating stories of how native people, early explorers and fur traders used the canoe.

Complete your day with Fall-themed dinner at one of Lake Louise’s premier restaurants before turning in for a well deserved rest.
