The Banff Marathon and Half Marathon is set to make a comeback in 2014. The original event was cancelled in its inaugural year after devastating floods in Southern Alberta. One of the world's most beautiful and unique destinations has been given another opportunity to host the most famous running event, the marathon.
Starting in the picturesque town of Banff and beginning the journey through a series of incredible natural, wildlife, and historical stages - the "Bow Valley Experience". Each stage is a different chapter of the Valley's story and is represented by an icon that is relevant to the area and its significance. Participants will begin and finish the course in Banff's Central Park surrounded by cheering crowds, complete a loop past the serene Vermilion Lakes, travel along the new Legacy Trail and up the Bow Valley Parkway to a designated turn-around point.
This is your chance to run in the only marathon in North America that is fully contained within the boundaries of a National Park, Canada's very first National Park. The maximum number of participants is limited to 1500 due to the uniqueness of the setting as a protected area and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Don't miss the opportunity to experience this unique race! Registration for the Banff Marathon and Half Marathon is now open. For more information and to register click here.
