RBC GranFondo Banff
Saturday, August 24, 2013
GranFondo's are mass participation cycling events that have enjoyed incredible popularity in Europe for decades. Loosely translated from Italian, GranFondo means "big ride." GrandFondo's appeal to cyclists of all skill levels - everyone from the competitive to amateur.
RBC GranFondo Banff, the only “big ride” in North America to take place entirely within a national park, will see cyclists follow a beautifully scenic 142 km route around Canada’s iconic Rocky Mountains on August 24, starting and finishing in the picturesque town of Banff.
A true destination event in one of Canada’s most scenic locations, cyclists will connect intimately with the natural and cultural heritage and wildlife of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Capacity for the second edition of RBC GranFondo Banff will be kept to a maximum of 1,500 participants. Given that the 2012 event sold out in less than six weeks, it is expected to sell out again in 2013. For those interested in participating, registration will open on January 15, 2013.
