GranFondo's are mass participation cycling events that have enjoyed incredible popularity in Europe for decades. Loosely translated from Italian, GranFondo means "big ride." GrandFondo's appeal to cyclists of all skill levels - everyone from the competitive to amateur.
RBC GranFondo Banff, the only “big ride” in North America to take place entirely within a national park, will see cyclists follow a beautifully scenic 142 km route around Canada’s iconic Rocky Mountains, starting and finishing in the picturesque town of Banff.
A true destination event in one of Canada’s most scenic locations, cyclists will connect intimately with the natural and cultural heritage and wildlife of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The third annual RBC GranFondo Banff which took place August 23, 2014 once again sold out with a total of over 1300 participants in the ride. Giving back to the community, RBC, the title sponsor, generously donated $25,000 to the Alberta Cycling Association and in particular so that they can implement programming that will teach youth in the Bow Valley about bicycle safety. RBC GranFondo also made a sizable organic fresh food donation to the Banff Daycare, as well as donations to other community organizations as a thank your for their dedication to volunteering.
