With heaps of snow and fun-filled activities, Banff National Park knows how to do winter best! Celebrate this season with the 4th Annual SnowDays, a month-long festival jam-packed with mid-week events and weekend festivals that celebrate Banff’s historic love for winter.
SnowDays festivities are focused in three main central locations:
- The Downtown Skating Rink (300 block Banff Avenue)
- Banff Avenue Square (200 block Banff Avenue)
- Central Park (Banff Avenue and Buffalo Street)
Weekend 1 will host the kick-off party of the season you won't want to miss. A mega opening weekend celebration is currently in the making so be sure to check back soon for more details.
Rounding out the first weekend are loads of exhilarating outdoor activities that have become a tradition during SnowDays including the Slide & Ride, an ice playground and a 40ft ice climbing wall in downtown Banff!
The Travelers All-Star Curling Skins Game presented by Pinty’s is back for it's 2nd year on January 16 - 18 bringing world-class curlers to picturesque Banff.
Lake Louise will also have it's share of world-class talent making an appearance on weekend 2. The International Ice Carving Competition is the highlight event at the Ice Magic Festival where ice carvers work to sculpt towering one-of-a-kind works of art from 300lb blocks of solid ice over a grueling 34 hours. Little Chippers Weekend is all about activities that cater to the young and young at heart.
Discover the magic of climbing waterfall ice with MEC Ice Climbing Festival also back to Banff for it's 2nd year. January 30-February 1 is a weekend dedicated to celebrating the sport of ice climbing with everything from demos to clinics to friendly competitions.
Bear Street parking lot transforms into a terrain park spectacle at The Big Bear on February 6. Special ski hill events and in-town evening entertainment round out this last weekend of SnowDays and will leave you wishing winter never ends!
