Winterstart Festival

November 12, 2015 - December 12, 2015
WinterStart Festival

Winter. Starts. Here.

The world starts winter in the place where winter is perfect – Banff National Park. Four weeks of fun activities which include some of our most popular events.

Let’s start with Bon Appétit Banff. November 12 to 22, over 30 of the finest restaurants in Banff and Lake Louise strut their stuff for you with special menus full of delicious creations. With all that mouth-watering food and jaw-dropping scenery, things could get messy.

November 20 to 22 is the Banff Christmas Market. Clever, wild, and wonderful gifts that surprise and delight. Unique artisan crafts and local treats, all with the flavour of the Rocky Mountains. Perhaps just this once it’s just as sweet to receive as it is to give.

Catch a glimpse of the Lake Louise Alpine Ski World Cup Racing. November 28 to 29 you can cheer on the men, and December 4, 5 and 6 show your support for the ladies. The very best skiers in the world launch the first race of the season in North America - right here with you. It’s an amazing site to see in person as they zoom past you at 130 kilometers an hour.

Also making an appearance for the first time in Banff, November 27 & 28, is the Banff Craft Beer Festival.  Sure you've been to a tasting event but have you been to the world's most beautiful beer sampling event?  This unique experience takes place in Canada's first National Park.

Top things off with the ultimate holiday experience - the Santa Claus Parade of Lights on December 5. The only place better to meet the jolly old elf would be the North Pole itself.  Just try getting an invite there!

New this year is Christmas on Wolf Street to finish off the 2015 Winterstart celebration. A flurry of festivities as Banff brings Christmas to light on December 12th from 4:30PM to 6:30PM on Wolf Street with an all ages public outdoor street party that includes live music, interactive pageantry, fire pits, hot chocolate and more!

We invite you to get the most out of your holiday season by starting your winter with a touch of mountain magic.
