Guided Hikes

LET BANFF HERITAGE TOURISM GUIDE YOU!

Experience hiking, one of Canada's classic alpine adventures, and join an introductory guided hike up Tunnel Mountain with a certified local interpretive guide.  Guides ensure you climb and descend the summit safely.

The hikes running from June 30 through to August 21 will take you on a journey up this local trail rich with history.  Learn about the surrounding environment, protected wildlife and facts about Canada's first national park all while taking in some of the most spectacular vistas Banff has to offer.

LOCATION: Meet at Banff Avenue Square (208 Banff Avenue, across from the Grizzly House restaurant)
TRAIL: Tunnel Mountain Trail
DATE/TIME:

Tuesdays at 5:30pm from June 30 - August 18. Meet at 5:15pm. Hike departs at 5:30pm sharp.

Fridays at 9:30am from July 3 - August 21. Meet at 9:15am. Hike departs at 9:30am sharp.

PRICE: $20 per person including tax
CAPACITY: 12 people per hike, minimum 8 years old
DIFFICULTY: Easy-Moderate. 6km (3.7 miles) return trip. 260m (853 feet) elevation gain
DURATION: Approximately 2 hours return trip

Hiking Shoes

COME PREPARED AND DON'T FORGET: 

  • hiking boots or runners (no sandals)
  • day pack
  • snack (e.g. granola bar or cookie)
  • water (at least 500 ml)
  • rain gear
  • sun hat
  • sun screen
  • sunglasses
  • fleece (or warm shirt)
  • toque and mitts (depending on weather)
