June 20, 2011 (Banff, AB) – Sunday’s Stage 4, Tunnel Mountain Road Race, the final event for the men, greeted riders with no rain and even some sun to show off Banff's amazing scenery. The 143km course featured a 13km loop around Tunnel Mountain with the start/finish on Beaver Street just off Banff Avenue. The course consisted of a flat stretch through town, a climb up Tunnel Mountain Drive, a rolling technical section along the top of the climb, and then a fast, roller-coaster descent, past Surprise Corner back into town to the finish.
June 18, 2011 (Banff, AB) – The riders were greeted with partially sunny skies as they prepared for the start of the Stage 2 Individual Time Trial on this double-stage Saturday at the Banff National Park Bike Fest. It was a welcome change from Friday's rain but with a stiff breeze coming from the west, all racers would have another obstacle to contend with as they tackled the tough 21km Lake Minnewanka Loop, just outside of Banff.
June 18, 2011 (Banff, AB) – Stage 1, Day 2, at the Banff National Park Bike Fest slated the 81km Lake Louise Road Race along the scenic Bow Valley Parkway, home to one of Alberta's premiere bike races. Cool temperatures and a light rain prevailed, making for a somewhat cautious approach to race tactics. Adding to the caution were recent sightings of wolves and grizzlies along the popular route.
June 17, 2011 (Banff, AB) - With the threat of a storm brewing overhead, the fourth annual Banff Bike Festival got underway at 4pm on Thursday with the Cascade Plaza Prologue amidst the majestic Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park in Alberta. If the 1.5km scenic uphill time trial was any indication of things to come, riders and spectators were in for a treat.
