Banff, AB (May 28, 2014) – The seventh annual Banff Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival returns to the majestic Fairmont Banff Springs on May 30 and 31, 2014. Once again, thousands will gather during the Festival weekend in Banff National Park to celebrate sensational cuisine and beverages.
The Festival will feature a sizzling array of culinary offerings, Friday and Saturday, with special weekend events and late night celebrations taking place around the town of Banff. The main event - The Grand Tasting Hall - held at The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, will host food and beverage exhibitors from Banff and the surrounding areas. Guests will have the opportunity to treat their taste buds to an abundance of bite-sized gourmet delights from top local chefs and sample hundreds of fine wines, scotch, port, spirits and import and micro-brewed beer from around the world.
"Not only is there a fantastic sampling of local restaurants and tasty sips at the Festival, but many of the local restaurants and hotels have also created special events throughout the weekend," says Cathy Miller, Festival Director. "Banff is just a short drive for many Albertans, so there's plenty of time to hop in the car after work and catch Friday evening's tasting session, or head out for the Saturday tasting sessions."
With multiple restaurant and food purveyor booths offering an extensive collection of gourmet foods, guests will experience all that Banff’s food scene has to offer. From savoury options such as gnocchi with cured wild boar, tequila cream jumbo prawns and wild mushroom ravioli, to sweet options such as baklava cigars and cream cheese brownies, this year’s selection is sure to satisfy any palate. Guests can taste a large selection of award-winning and distinctive wines from 103 wineries in 16 different countries – including Moldova, Australia, Chile, South Africa, China, USA, and Canada. Festival-goers can also enjoy a selection of 27 different beers and an extensive selection of whiskey, vodka, rum, liqueur and more.
Guests can choose from two remaining tasting sessions: Friday, May 30 from 7 – 10 p.m. and Saturday, May 31 from 2 – 5 p.m. (Saturday evening has now sold out). Tickets for each tasting session are sold online and at the door (based on availability). Sampling coupons are available for purchase for $0.50 each upon arrival, allowing consumers to customize what they try and how much they spend.
