Ice Skating

The sparkling, glacier-fed waters of Banff National Park freeze over in winter, providing you with some of the most scenic ice skating rinks in the world. These natural rinks, combined with some rinks created and maintained throughout the park, provide you with numerous indoor and outdoor rinks available for skating.

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
This incredibly scenic rink located right on Lake Louise falls in spot #1 as one of CNN Travel's "10 most beautiful ice skating rinks in the world". FREE.

The Fairmont Banff Springs:
This outdoor rink has a heated shelter and crackling fire for staying warm. FREE.

Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre:
Indoor rink open for public skating at a cost of $5. Skates available for rental for use on site only. 

Downtown Rink at Banff High School
A centrally-located rink on the field at the local high school. FREE.

Train Station Banff
An ice rink with low boards perfect for a game of shinny. Bench seats & washrooms available in train station.  Open daily with additional lighting until early evening. FREE.

Bow River
A skating oval cleared on the Bow River for skating when conditions allow. FREE.

Lake Louise Recreation Centre
This facility on Village Road in Lake Louise includes an outdoor hockey/ice skating rink. FREE.
