With heaps of snow and fun-filled activities, Banff National Park knows how to do winter best! SnowDays is a month-long festival, jam-packed with events and activities celebrating Banff’s historic love for winter.
Downhill skiing and snowboarding, cross country skiing, downtown ice climbing wall, outdoor skating, ice carving, snowshoeing, geocaching, sleigh rides, cultural activities, kids ice playground, mountain movies, après food & beverage specials and more!
Many of the activities are offered at no cost and with no advance booking required, conveniently located in downtown Banff and at Lake Louise.
New Marathon Event Runs Into Banff National Park
Banff National Park will be home to one of the world’s finest running experiences this summer as the inaugural Banff Marathon takes place June 23, 2013.
The new marathon, organized by LifeSport Coaching, will offer runners a unique opportunity to race through the spectacular scenery of Canada’s first national park. The 42-kilometre point-to-point course will start south of Lake Louise on the Bow Valley Parkway, continue along The Legacy
Trail and Vermillion Lakes Road and finish to cheering spectators in downtown Banff. Participants can also opt to run the shorter half marathon along the same route, starting south of Johnston Canyon.
Tube Park Opens In Lake Louise
For the first time ever visitors to The Lake Louise Ski Area can experience the thrill of tubing! No previous snow-sports experience is required and this is an activity that the whole family can enjoy.
Located at the base of the mountain, guests can grab a tubing ticket from Guest Services, make their way to the beginner carpet area, get a tube and spend the day riding our 2 lane 'Sunny Tube' run.
Tubing is a thrilling way to enjoy winter in the Canadian Rockies, and is sure to provide a rush whether this is your first time in the snow or you’re a serious skier. Lanes are groomed for smooth sliding to ensure participants have the most fun possible while staying safe.
Cave & Basin Invites the World to Come See Banff’s Biggest Story
The Cave and Basin National Historic site, a birthplace of Canada’s national parks, will re-open in May 2013 after a 2-year, $13.8 million rehabilitation project.
One of the most significant landmarks in Canadian conservation history and located just around the corner from Banff Avenue, it will feature enhanced year round programming and new interpretive media exhibits; Parks Canada interpretive programs plus after-hour lantern tour; late night special events including cinema under the stars or stargazing on the boardwalks; 40-seat theatre, a multi-functional room, gift shop; café and infrastructure to support catering and special events.

Glacier Skywalk Coming Soon
Brewster Travel Canada continues its work on a new world-class, barrier free attraction located 6 km away from the Columbia Icefield. Nearly a reality, the Glacier Skywalk will welcome visitors from all over the world in May 2014.
This brand new attraction will provide an interpretive guided experience and will be accessible to all visitors regardless of mobility challenges. The Glacier Skywalk will consist of a 400 metre interpretive boardwalk and a glass-floored observation platform extending 30 metres out over the Sunwapta Valley.
To get there, guests will park at the Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre and board a free shuttle that will transport them to the Glacier Skywalk. They will need approximately one hour for this stunning experience.
Brewster Mountain Lodge Updates
Brewster’s Mountain Lodge is now please to advise that in this past season they have completed the installation of our new flat screen televisions, and hall carpet throughout the hotel. They also have replaced all the mattresses in the hotel during this time. New for 2013 there will be updates to their Lobby area and Spa facilities (hot tub, sauna and work out facility) renovation is under development for this fall. Brewster Mountain Lodge hopes to be able to show it off to you and your guests when you are in the area. They are still offering our Complimentary Continental Breakfast and Complimentary WIFI to add value to your stay in our 77 room family owned hotel, located in downtown Banff, Alberta.

Wild Bill’s Legendary Saloon Renovations
Wild Bill’s Legendary Saloon is currently undertaking major renovations with a scheduled reopening date of May 17th, 2013. Renovation highlights will include a refresh of floors and walls, improved restaurant layout, new flat screen TV’s, enclosed patios and our newly named mechanical bull “Ebenezer”. With an increased seating capacity, as well as the ability to allow minors into the venue when accompanied by a parent until 8pm, pending licence approval, these exciting changes will be enjoyed by guests of all ages.
To showcase their unique smokehouse menu and large dancehall, a “Country & Western night’ package has been created, that offers a delicious buffet dinner, a live Country & Western band and line dancing lessons. Groups may also add the mechanical bull and private dance lessons as needed.
Banff Aspen Lodge Café and Updates
A cafe will be opening at the Banff Aspen Lodge in summer 2013 serving coffee, tea and light snacks and all guestrooms now have in-room safes. By this summer our continental breakfast will officially be a deluxe continental breakfast, as it will include bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs one day and cold meats & cheese the next. This will rotate every other day. Two outdoor hot tubs with a fireplace occupy our central courtyard and all room rates still include our continental breakfast, wireless internet and parking!
