Ice Magic Festival
Enjoy Lake Louise during the Ice Magic Festival weekend January 21 -23, 2011. In the shadow of glacier clad Mt. Victoria witness teams of professional carvers as they compete in the prestigious International Ice Carving Competition held each year at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
Sanctioned by the National Ice Carving Association (NICA), twelve international teams of two carvers are given 15 blocks of ice, weighing 300lb each, which they must transform into seven-foot tall world class ice sculptures in just three days. The Lake Louise Inn will also host the One Carver One Hour One Block event, an individual carver speed event. Chainsaws will fly as carver’s race against the clock to carve one block of ice in one hour.
We also invite you to join us at the Little Chippers Festival held in Samson Mall of Lake Louise Village, where kids will have a chance to learn the art and science of ice carving first hand, and take part in a host of fun family events!
