Take advantage of the free shuttle running from the Sampson Mall to the Chateau Lake Louise, return every 30mins: Saturday 10:30am – 4:00pm and Sunday 10:30 – 2:30pm.

Enjoy Lake Louise during the Ice Magic weekend January 23 -25, 2009. In the shadow of glacier clad Mt. Victoria witness teams of professional carvers as they compete in the prestigious International Ice Carving Competition held each year at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Sanctioned by the National Ice Carving Association, twelve international teams of three carvers work within the theme "Rhythm Of Nature Within The Canadian Rockies". Teams are given 15 blocks of ice, weighing 300lb each, which they must transform into seven-foot tall world class ice sculptures in three days. Teams will also compete in a speed event, One Carver One Hour One Block. Chainsaws will fly as carver’s race against the clock to carve one block of ice in one hour.

We also invite you to join us at the Little Chippers Festival held in Samson Mall of Lake Louise Village. Children will have a chance to learn the art and science of ice carving first hand! Free hot chocolate, coffee and cookies, learn to drive a dog sled, interact with the local Fire Department, face painting, walk the Wilson’s Mountain Sports and Samson’s Mall Enchanted Forest ice maze and more!! Fun for the entire family!

Don’t miss the opportunity to attend two of our free musical performances, A Musical “Winterlude” and Let’s Sing a Song, being performed at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

We encourage you to come out on Sunday to see the finished sculptures at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and cast your vote in the People’s Choice Award and Children’s Choice Award competitions. Winners will be announced during the Awards Ceremony at 4:00pm.
