There is a long tradition of horseback riding in Banff National Park. The first explorers used horses to travel through the rugged mountain terrain and pack supplies into hard-to-reach areas! Today you can enjoy the quiet, leisurely pace of a horseback trail ride and take in the views while your four-legged friend propels you onward.
Enjoy half-day rides in both the Banff and Lake Louise areas. In Banff, options include a simple two-hour ride by the Bow River or along the Sundance Canyon Trail, where you can stop for a hearty breakfast or picnic lunch. At Lake Louise, ride along emerald waters to gain superb views of Mts. Fairview and Victoria. You’ll appreciate not having to watch where you’re going, so that you can take in the surrounding beauty.
Choose your steed and venture off into the wilderness for a full-day adventure on horseback! Options include guided rides to one of two historic teahouses at Lake Louise, through the panoramic views of the Spray River Valley or out to a quaint backcountry lodge where you can enjoy a barbeque at your halfway point. All full-day options include a Western-style lunch.
