Protection Mountain Campground

Just minutes from the Village of Lake Louise, this campground has recently been part of a hazardous tree removal project, which has opened up the forest to reveal spectacular mountain and nighttime sky views.

Sites: All 89 campsites have picnic tables. Some campground loops also have fireboxes for cooking. Sites are suitable for tents and small RVs (up to 7 meters (24 feet) in length. A maximum of 6 people and 2 vehicles are permitted on each site. All tents and vehicles must be set up or parked on the gravel area of the campsite. Camping is on a first come, first serve basis. 

Services: The campground has flush toilets, hot and cold running water, picnic shelters, and food lockers for walk-in campers. There is a sani-dump in the Village of Lake Louise. There is limited cellphone coverage.

Regulations: There is an alcohol and fire ban in effect from 2300 - 0700 every day and a complete alcohol ban on long weekends at all the campgrounds in the Banff, Yoho and Kootenay National Parks. The maximum stay is 14 days. Check-out time is 1100.

Fees: $21.50 per site per night with no fire and $30.30 per site per night with fire. Wood is provided. Campers must self-register and payment is with cash or credit card.
