From January 19 - 30, 2022, Banff National Park comes alive at SnowDays, transforming the area into a unique experience of events, snow and ice sculptures, family-friendly parties, and the Canadian culinary and shopping that visitors come to expect.
Looking for a snowy experience found nowhere else? You've found it in Banff and Lake Louise.
1. Experience live snow sculpting
Most people have never witnessed such dramatic art that is a snow sculpture. The snow sculpting artists themselves can be witnessed sculpting multi-storey high snow cubes into masterful creations that will ignite creativity and leave visitors in awe at this unique event on Bear Street in downtown Banff.
2. Wander the Snow Sculptures
If you miss the carving, don't worry. The sculptures are up for the full days of the event. Wander the sculptures, marvel at their details, and sit by the fire amongst the masterpieces. See the sculptures throughout Banff's core while wandering in and out of Banff's beautiful shops. We recommended seeing the sculptures at night, while they are illuminated.
3. Discover the TRIBUTE Craft Spirits Celebration
Explore the vibrant culinary scene of Banff and Lake Louise at the TRIBUTE Craft Spirits Celebration. The festival brings together the best craft distilleries from Alberta and British Columbia and showcases the vibrant local food scene in Banff and Lake Louise. Enjoy 12 days of special cocktail menus in local bars and restaurants, culminating in a two-day, outdoor event, when Bear Street will host a range of enticing food and drink stations.
4. Play like a kid again at the SnowDays Play Zone
Dive into winter and explore the best of winter activities! Go for a spin on the fat bike course, try human curling or the obstacle course - there's something for all ages at the SnowDays Play Zone. Running weekday evenings and weekends during SnowDays.
5. Discover Ice Magic in Lake Louise
Every January the iconic Lake Louise comes alive with Ice Magic. Watch as world-class sculptors create incredible works of art from blocks of ice during the international carving competition. Visit mid-week to see the carvers in action and to take advantage of free admission.

Winter means more in Banff National Park. When you're here for SnowDays, make the most of the time and take in Banff's majestic views on skis, by snowshoe, or by foot. Winter is the only time you'll be able to explore a frozen Johnston Canyon, skate on the iconic Lake Louise, or sit in the Banff Hot Springs with snow falling all around you.
