The backcountry ski and snowboarding in Banff National Park is near endless. There are many options for single day and multi day tours covering all sorts of terrain, from glacier bowls to steep alpine lines. There is easily accessible slackcountry and backcountry skiing and snowboarding from the ski resorts. The Icefields Parkway is also a popular location, offering up some great “highway lines” that you can check out while driving by.
For a multi-day mountain retreat, stay at one of Banff National Park’s backcountry lodges.
Banff National Park is serious mountain terrain. You must ensure that you are well prepared and appropriately experienced in alpine and avalanche terrain. See the Parks Canada website for more information about winter backcountry safety and the latest avalanche forecast.
