Summer Itineraries: 4 Days of Love and Romance in Banff and Lake Louise

Add to my moments

Whether it is a weekend getaway or a longer stay; take time to reconnect to one another in the serenity of nature surrounding you. This summer, enjoy a romantic escape to the Canadian Rockies together.

Day 1: Rustic Romance

For day one of your romantic adventures, we recommend taking the scenic route to Lake Louise. Once you reach Castle Junction, turn onto the Bow Valley Parkway to enjoy a quieter road with plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife! Along the route, you cannot miss the beautiful Baker Creek Resort. Step into the cozy atmosphere of Baker Creek Bistro and enjoy tasteful cuisine in the warm ambience of a log cabin in the woods.

Finish your first day in the mountains with après under the alpenglow at your unique accommodation. If you have opted for a cozy cabin for this special getaway, take advantage of your patio and enjoy your private picnic under the stars. Settle into the intimate peace found amongst the tranquil twilight surrounding you.

Day 2: The Ride of a Lifetime

Rise early on day two and explore your surroundings in Lake Louise, take a ride up the Lake Louise Gondola and enjoy the walks and views on offer. Grab a coffee and breakfast here, otherwise, head to the Samson Mall for more scrumptious options such as Laggan's Mountain Bakery and Trailhead Cafe. Once you are ready, saddle up for a guided horse ride past turquoise lakes and glistening glaciers. Let your knowledgeable guide take you on a half-day riding tour as you nurture your spirits in nature. You may even have the chance to indulge in the menu offerings at either of the historic tea houses.

After a day of adventuring, you can settle into a savoury meal at the Station Restaurant and Heritage Railway Station. Enjoy an assortment of regional and house-made cuisine surrounded by historic décor. For a unique experience, enjoy dinner on the patio overlooking the garden or even opt for a private dining experience in the Delamere.

Day 3: Perfect Picnics

For your first day in Banff, head out on a scenic drive along the Minnewanka Loop. Keep your eyes peeled for our wild neighbours as you take in picturesque views. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at Two Jack Lake as you tantalize your eyes and your tastebuds. Soak in the sun and each other’s company in the unmatched beauty of your surroundings.

Next, you can make your way back into town for a visit to Chuck’s Steakhouse or Saltlik for their perfect romantic patios. After a day in the sun, you can dig into hearty Alberta beef paired with global wines as you recount your time together in nature.

Spend your evening relaxing in your homey hotel. Snuggle up at the outdoor fire pits as you enjoy a full food and beverage menu at the Rimrock Resort Hotel. Or, at the Fairmont Banff Springs, you can indulge in panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies paired with classic cocktails at Rundle Bar. You can also delight in a warm drink in the tranquillity of the Aurora Borealis Room at Peaks Hotel & Suites. No matter where you stay, we guarantee you will find the perfect setting for these special moments together.

Day 4: Taking Romance to New Heights

For your final day in the mountains, why not race the sun by embarking on a sunrise hike on Stoney Lookout? Devote approximately 2 hours round trip to this moderately rated hike offering an unmatched view of the Banff townsite below. Breathe in the tranquillity of the morning as the sun sets your surroundings aglow.

Embrace the summer sunshine with a 10-minute ride in an open chairlift to the top of Mt. Norquay. Enjoy a mountain-gazing snack at Cliffhouse Bistro; a 1950s tearoom turned modern bistro. Take in magnificent views of Mt. Rundle as you sip on your choice of coffee, tea, or even a craft beer.

For your evening awe-inspiring activity, you can venture out for a sunset paddle on Vermilion Lakes. Enjoy the relaxed ambience of the water and wildlife surrounding you as you marvel at the colourful sky reflected in the clear blue lake. These small moments of connection complete this one remarkable adventure.
