Your Guide to New Banff Restaurants in 2021

Shoku Izakaya

Tantalize your taste buds in an environment that is as dynamic as the food selections. Delight in a variety of choices including rice bowls, noodles, and sushi. Shoku Izakaya deserves a place on any foodie’s bucket list. 

Taste of Place: Try the Tokyo Fries that Chef Stephane Prevost first made popular at Block Kitchen + Bar.  

Local’s Tip: Check out the current lunch/dinner features on offer for the chance to try something new! 

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory

While taking in the vibrant views of Cascade Mountain, you can indulge your senses in Banff’s newest dessert haven. Featuring exclusively handmade chocolate creations; Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory perfectly blends the majesty of the mountains with the sweet smell of chocolate.  

Taste of Place: Can’t decide between the rows of delectable desserts? Try the 11pc Rocky Reserve Collection featuring berries, nuts, and artisan chocolate with floral and fruit accents.  

Local’s Tip: Take your sweet treat down to Central Park and relax next to the Bow River.  

Three Bears Brewery and Restaurant 

Banff’s newest brewery is known for bringing the great outdoors – indoors. Featuring a retractable roof for stargazing, a beer garden, and cozy patio spaces; you’ll find the atmosphere as appealing as the fare. Perfectly pair salads, sandwiches, and pizzas with craft beer and creative cocktails. 

Taste of Place: Fresh pizza dough made using a process known as “reverse ice water ferment”. It takes 72 hours but it is clearly well worth the wait! 

Local’s Tip: Try out Happy Hour from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm daily. You can find plenty of patio seating if your VIP (very important pup) came along for the outing 

Saffron Indian Bistro 

Banff’s newest Indian Bistro highlights the most precious spice in the world; ranging from Saffron Special Paneer Tikka to Saffron Special Chicken Curry. The authentic cuisine will take you on a trip around the world; offering something to satisfy any hungry traveller. 

Taste of Place: Throughout history, Saffron has been used in food, drinks, and traditional herbal medicine. This spice is also rich in antioxidants.  

Local’s Tip: From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily enjoy a Saffron Special Thali. These Thali’s include traditional Indian food, a variety of Tandoori sizzlers, as well as appetizers and curries. 

The Uprising Bake Shop + Espresso Bar 

This new addition to Banff Avenue offers handcrafted bread products of the highest quality. Featuring muffins, pastries, sandwiches, and of course bread (including gluten-free) you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to a fresh-baked treat. 

Taste of Place: Their signature is sourdough – so you can expect to see lots of sourdough varieties. 

Local’s Tip: Each week they create a Bread Bag featuring select breads baked fresh and delivered the same day. 

Melissa’s MisSteak *New Location*

Melissa’s Family Restaurant is locally owned and operated and offers a selection of items that appeal to all budgets and tastes. Now you can find the same great food and friendly service in a new and exciting space! As you explore Banff Avenue be sure to stop into this familiar favourite at 201 Banff Avenue. 

Taste of Place: This is a great option for families looking for an economic choice that doesn’t compromise on food quality or taste! 

Local’s Tip: Enjoy Happy Hour from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. daily. They also offer an array of daily specials ranging from drinks to all-you-can-eat prime rib. 

Peak Café (formerly Skoki’s Waffle and Frozen Yogurt) 

Never fear! Your favourite frozen desserts are still available on Banff Avenue including sweet crepes, waffles, and soft-serve ice cream. However, now you can enjoy a hearty meal before digging into dessert with a new range of Vietnamese appetizers, soups, and rice bowls. Indulge in a range of savoury meal options and complete your visit with a delectable dessert all in a one-stop-shop

Taste of Place: Enjoy fresh and affordable options ranging from smoothies to stir-fried vermicelli. Find classic favourites and new dishes to explore at the same great location. 

Local’s Tip: Tantalize your taste buds with over 16 flavours of Milk Bubble Tea. 

Hello Sunshine 

A new one-of-a-kind restaurant in Banff, Hello Sunshine is a combination sushi and Japanese-barbecue karaoke joint. If you’re looking for a funky place to have drinks, dinner, or just a good time, look no further. This retro restaurant & karaoke bar features eye-catching fire tables, a sushi bar, groovy décor and all the good vibes. Complete with 2 karaoke rooms and a bonus Tiny Bar, this place has everything you’re looking for and more.

Taste of Place: Indulge in the Matcha Bubble Tea featuring organic matcha, Park vanilla vodka, oat milk, and tapioca pearls

The Prow (Buffalo Mountain Lodge) 

Newly opened in Buffalo Mountain Lodge, The Prow aims to bring guests amazing local cuisine in an approachable way and caters to all dietary needs. The menu includes mountain-themed tapas, game meats, excellent shareables, and pasta proudly made in-house. A culture of creative cocktails and local brews is boasted at this new locale.
