National Indigenous Peoples Day at The Whyte

Join The Whyte on National Indigenous Peoples Day for an afternoon of cultural celebration and community connection.

Throughout the afternoon, visitors are invited to experience Stoney Nakoda dance presentations by dancers from the Smalleyes family, with scheduled dance demonstrations at 1 PM and 3 PM in the Heritage Gallery. Between dance presentations, members of the Smalleyes family will share their beadwork practice through a live beading demonstration, offering visitors an opportunity to observe the techniques, materials, and artistry involved in their work.

The event will also feature a temporary display of beadwork and related materials from The Whyte's collections, presented alongside the beading demonstration.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity to celebrate the cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples, and to recognize the enduring presence of Indigenous communities across these lands.
