Tunnel Mountain Winter Trails
In summertime the Tunnel Mountain area is alive with hikers and bikers stretching their mountain legs on this small but mighty summit. When winter comes, the whole mountain is tranquil and downright enchanting – especially at night.
This is the only place around Banff and Lake Louise for a lit-up cross-country ski session beneath the night sky. The lights are just bright enough to guide the way along the smooth trails. On clear nights the moon and stars also help, though we almost prefer it when snowflakes are falling and reflecting light across the trail.

Local Tips
It may not feel like it, but the Tunnel Mountain cross-country trails are very close to some excellent restaurants for an apres-ski hot chocolate. Stop in the town on your way home to find your favourite.
The trusty rule of layers applies here too, especially on an evening ski when the temperatures are going down.
This is a shared cross-country skiing, fat biking and snowshoeing trail.
