Buffalo Nations Cultural Day
The Buffalo Nations Cultural Day is a free, full-day celebration of Indigenous cultures, knowledge, creativity, and connection at the Buffalo Nations Museum in Banff.
Set along the Bow River and across the museum's historic grounds, this open-access event offers opportunities to explore Indigenous stories, traditions, art, and living culture through a variety of experiences throughout the day. Visitors can connect with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, artists, artisans, youth leaders, and community members while learning about the rich cultural heritage of the Treaty 7 Nations.

What to Expect
Experience Indigenous-guided museum tours, cultural presentations, storytelling, drumming and dance performances, artisan vendors, and traditional demonstrations throughout the day. Visitors can explore at their own pace, shop the artisan market, witness a tipi raising, engage with artists and makers, and take part in family-friendly experiences that celebrate Indigenous cultures, knowledge, and ways of knowing.
Designed as a free-flowing cultural gathering, Buffalo Nations Cultural Day offers opportunities to connect with Indigenous stories, art, language, music, land-based knowledge, and community in a welcoming and interactive setting. The day concludes with an Indigenous interpretation of the night sky.
