Marsh Loop Trail

The earthy scents of the natural hot spring at the nearby Cave & Basin historic site are a clear sign you’ve found your way to the Marsh Loop trailhead. Tallgrasses and marsh vegetation prevail here, in a landscape markedly different from the rest of Banff’s surroundings.

Hidden from view in the swaying reeds are wooden boardwalks and bridges that lead hikers on a charming 3.4 km journey through the marsh. As you stroll the elevated trail, look beyond the reflections in colourful pools for an underwater world teeming with life.
