Transit & Shuttles
Banff National Park’s many transit and shuttle options operate to most key attractions in Banff National Park including Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Johnston Canyon and Lake Minnewanka. As parking is unavailable or limited at attractions with lots filling up early in the morning, taking transit or reserving a shuttle is your best option to get to your destination.
How to get to:
- Parks Canada Shuttles: Departing daily, from May to October from the Park & Ride these shuttles go directly to Lake Louise or Moraine Lake with a connector shuttle available to move between the lakes. Use the Parks Canada Shuttles to guarantee you see both lakes in a day. Tickets must be reserved in advance.
- Roam Transit Route 8X: Departing year-round, daily from downtown Banff, this express service travels directly to Lake Louise's lakefront. Purchase a Roam Transit Super Pass to include the shuttle from Lake Louise to Moraine Lake as part of your journey.
- Roam Transit Route 10: Departing daily in the fall from downtown Banff, this service travels directly Moraine Lake. Purchase a Roam Transit Super Pass to include the shuttle from Lake Louise to Moraine Lake as part of your journey.
- On-It Regional Transit:Travel from Calgary to Lake Louise or Moraine Lake. The Lake Louise service operates Fridays through Sundays and statutory holidays from mid June to early September. The Moraine Lake service operates Fridays through Sundays and statutory holidays from early September to mid October.
- Other summer shuttle options: Fairview Limousine and Moraine Lake Bus Company operate shuttles multiple times daily from June to October with pick-up points in Lake Louise. Mountain Park Transportation operates a shuttle from Banff with multiple departures daily. Or double your adventure with the Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola's gondola and shuttle package.

- Roam Public Transit Route 1: This daily, year-round service runs from Banff Avenue, up Sulphur Mountain to the historic Banff Upper Hot Springs, Rimrock Resort Hotel, and Banff Gondola.
- Free Banff Gondola Shuttle: Running daily in the summer, with convenient pickup points in town and regular departures, the free shuttle makes getting to the Banff Gondola easy in the summer months! Pre-purchased ticket required to ride the shuttle.
- Roam Public Transit Route 9: Departing daily from May to October and on weekends from October to May from the Banff High School Transit Hub, this service travels directly to Johnston Canyon.
- Roam Public Transit Route 6: This daily service from May to October runs between the town of Banff and Lake Minnewanka, Two Jack Lake, Johnson Lake, Cascade Ponds as well as campgrounds and day-use areas on Lake Minnewanka Road.
- Lake Minnewanka Cruise: For the best experience, take the bus. Hop on Roam Transit's Route 6 service from downtown Banff and show your cruise ticket to the bus driver to get a free ride. Board a bus from downtown Banff no later than an hour prior to your cruise time to ensure you arrive on time. Parking at Lake Minnewanka is extremely limited. If driving, it's recommended you arrive at least two hours before your cruise to ensure you can find parking.
- Free Sunshine Meadows Shuttle: Running daily in the summer, with convenient pickup points in Banff town and regular departures, the free shuttle makes getting to Sunshine Meadows for your hiking and sightseeing adventures simple!
- Free Mt. Norquay Shuttle: Running daily in the summer with multiple pickup points in Banff town and regular departures, the free shuttle makes accessing the Mt. Norquay Sightseeing Chairlift and the Via Ferrata a breeze! You can also use the shuttle to access popular hiking trails in the area like Stoney Lookout and Cascade Amphitheatre.
- Roam Public Transit Route 4: This daily service from May to October runs along Banff Avenue to the Banff Park Museum, the Cave and Basin National Historic Sites and Bow Falls.
- Roam Public Transit Route 2: This daily, year-round service runs from Tunnel Mountain Village 1 and Village 2 campgrounds to the town centre, and then on to Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.
Ski shuttles run multiple times daily during ski season and pick up from convenient locations throughout Banff and select locations in Lake Louise. The shuttles run to all three ski resorts; Lake Louise Ski Resort, Mt. Norquay Ski Resort and Sunshine Village Ski Resort. Ski shuttles are free to use for anyone with a valid lift ticket. Lift tickets can be purchased directly through the ski resorts or a tri-lift ticket can be purchased through SkiBig3.
- Roam Public Transit Route 3: This daily, year-round service runs with regular departures between Banff and Canmore.
Don’t forget to buy your Park Pass
In addition to transit, shuttle and parking fees, everyone visiting Banff or Lake Louise needs to purchase a Park Pass for entry into the National Park. Buy yours online and save time and hassle when arriving at the park entrance.
