Business Events Update - April 2024

Creating Business Events Opportunities for Members

Following the success of our corridor strategy with Tourism Calgary in 2023, we have doubled our Business Events marketing investment in this partnership. Our combined resources allow us to maximize exposure, and we have expanded high-awareness marketing in the USA, the UK, and Europe. We will align our content and use created video assets to tell compelling stories from May to November.

BLLT's partnership with events company Maritz has led to excellent lead opportunities. Their Elevate Summit, focusing on event design, brought clients and suppliers together in Vancouver and BLLT attended as part of our corridor strategy with Tourism Calgary, connecting with corporate incentive and association clients like Dassault Aviation, White Cap Events, and Konica Minolta.

At Business Event Industry Week in Washington DC, Tourism Calgary connected with key association clients, including the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, who are considering Banff and Lake Louise for a fall 2027 meeting for 300 people.

BLLT provided flights and transfers for a business development visit from Strategic Site Selection, a top third-party planning company in Canada. Hosted by Fairmont, the trip showcased member offerings and attractions like the Banff Centre, Banff Gondola, and Mountainview BBQ.

In our first Business Events Advisory Group meeting of 2024, our team presented updates on Strategy and Content, and gathered valuable feedback. We discussed member enablement opportunities for the year and highlighted successes in 2024.

Partnership with The Gathering boosts Community Engagement

We finalized our marketing partnership with The Gathering for 2024. In October, the summit will bring together world-class speakers, business leaders, and innovators. The Gathering will promote our destination welcome video, make dedicated destination posts on LinkedIn and Facebook, and integrate our trip planning tools in their email campaigns. They are participating in the Community Impact Program (CIP) for a second year, committing $16,000. This will encourage conference attendees to spend locally and explore the town beyond the event venue, as well as giving back via the Banff Community Foundation.
