Business Events Update - November 2023

Leads Generated for Business Events

Banff & Lake Louise Tourism generated a number of leads as a key sponsor of SITE Chicago's Holly Trolley, including two ski programs from William Blair and McDermott Will & Emery LLP. BLLT's partnership with Tourism Calgary proved beneficial, as their attendance at the Association Forum Holiday Showcase in Chicago generated leads for Banff and Lake Louise from the Society of Actuaries and others. We gained UK market insights at Destination Canada Business Events’ London gathering and secured the most appointments with qualified planners at the IBTM World Conferencein Barcelona.

Our strategic partnership with Ignite Magazine, reaching 26,800 subscribers in the Canadian corporate sector, has been beneficial. This year's collaboration featured Wellness and our groundbreaking Community Impact Program (CIP), this was supported by targeted banner ads. Canadian groups have been early adopters, with one prompted to make a CIP application by Ignite’s editorial. This was enhanced by promotion on Ignite's Instagram, and in a case study: “Banff is everything you could ask for in a rewarding group experience. The destination is a rare combination of rugged and refined, exclusive yet approachable,” Angela Kryhul, Ignite Editorial Director.

Sustainability Efforts Progressing Well

Banff and Lake Louise achieved a 43% rating in the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDSI), placing 9th out of 20 Canadian destinations participating with Destination Canada Business Events. The GDSI rating recognized strengths including our destination-wide 10-Year Vision, Community Impact Program, mobility strategies, and approach to public consultation. To capitalize on opportunities to improve our score, we will build out action plans for the 10-Year Vision, as well as our DEI and sustainability strategies. Town of Banff and Parks Canada representatives joined for a performance improvement session with Connect 7, our GDSI consulting partner, allowing them to grasp the broader scope of this work.
