Free Access to Canadian National Parks This Summer
From June 19 to September 7, visitors can explore Banff National Park for free, with no park pass required. Outside of this period, a valid park pass will be needed, and we recommend purchasing passes in advance online to avoid waits at park gates or visitor centres.
Sulphur Mountain: Paid Parking Pilot Introduced for Summer 2026
To help manage congestion during peak visitation periods, Parks Canada will introduce seasonal parking fees in the Sulphur Mountain area, including both the upper and lower parking lots. Paid parking will be in effect daily from May 15 to October 12, between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. As of summer 2026, the daily parking fee will be $17.50.
