Banff's Festive Markets

Add to my moments

It’s the time of year when colourful lights dazzle all around you and your boots crunch through freshly fallen snow as you walk through the town of Banff. The anticipation of the holiday season clings to the cool breeze. This year, you’re spoiled for choice as you complete your Christmas shopping in Banff with two festive markets to help get you in the holiday spirit.

Banff Christmas Market

The 2021 Banff Christmas Market is offering six days of magic! Less than a 20-minute walk from downtown, you can’t miss the festive red Warner Stables just off Cave Avenue. Here you can find over 80 artisanal vendors, live music, an outdoor fire lounge, and of course, plenty of Christmas treats and warm drinks.

Running the weekends of November 19 – 21 and November 26 – 28, you will find all-day shopping from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The shopping hours are shorter on Sunday (10:00 am – 4:00 pm), but you will still find plenty of activities and shopping experiences to keep you busy!

During the day, you can find family-friendly activities to enjoy while you browse, including live music, photos with Santa, sweets and treats, and even an early evening tree lighting ceremony on select nights. Browse a selection of local art, jewellery, décor, clothing, food & beverage, and so much more!

As evening approaches, you can make your way to the Fire Lounge presented by Park Distillery. Enjoy a selection of craft spirits, mulled wine, snacks, and live music.

Bear Street Holiday Market

Beautiful Bear Street is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Banff. As you look to complete your Christmas shopping with mountain mementos and peak presents – the Bear Street Holiday Market is a cheerful and convenient choice. Be sure to visit Friday – Sunday from November 19 – December 19 for your fill of market fun. You can also visit daily from December 20-24 and 26-31 for a dose of holiday spirit.

You can begin with a browse through ten rotating stalls featuring local artists and vendors, nearby businesses, and even options for the resident foodie in your group. Be sure to check back over multiple weekends, as the stall offerings will continuously change. Soon after, you can venture mere steps away to visit the surrounding shops and restaurants. You’re sure to find a variety of alpine apparel, local artwork and photography, and plenty of cozy flannel.

Warm-up while you shop by indulging in the many Hot Chocolate Trail offerings found along Bear Street. Every sweet tooth in your group is sure to be satisfied with a range of options: from the Chilli Chai Hot Chocolate from Nourish Bistro to the Espresso Banana Hot Chocolate from Three Bears Brewery & Restaurant. Savour your sweet hot chocolate around the cozy outdoor fire pits. Lastly, what better way to enjoy your shopping experience than with the beat of Bear Street? Find live performers throughout the weekend ready to serenade throughout your holiday shopping experience.

Whether you are looking to treat yourself, find some fun stocking stuffers, or you’re looking for a unique gift for a special someone, the Banff Christmas Market and the Bear Street Holiday Market have got you covered this season. These two markets make Banff a one-stop-shop for all your gift and souvenir needs.
