Follow in Adam Dovile's Footsteps Through the Iconic Canadian Rocky Mountains
This winter escape follows Adam Dovile from Better Homes & Gardens Australia as he explores the best of Banff and Lake Louise, Canada. While the adventure airs across two action-packed episodes, filming actually took place over several days—thanks to a bit of TV magic.
To match the full experience, the episodes have been expanded into a four-day itinerary. It’s the perfect pace for you to soak up the scenery, savor local flavors, and enjoy each adventure just like Adam and the BHG team did.
Along the way, Adam dives into classic Canadian activities, warms up with local eats, and taps into the culture and traveler-favourite experiences that make this iconic destination so special.
As Adam says, "Banff National Park is truly a unique winter wonderland with experiences and activities that will create memories of a lifetime for your whole family."
So, whether it's your first time visiting in the winter, or you're returning for more, let Adam's adventure be your inspiration and make this itinerary your own.

Learn about getting here.Day 01
Adam's adventure began with a quick fix: he didn't pack for winter so a stop at Rocky Mountain Flannel got him suited up in local layers.
Afterwards, Adam strapped on snowshoes with White Mountain Adventures to explore Mount Assiniboine Park near Sunshine Village, wandering into the backcountry. "I have never seen so much snow in my life", he said, soaking in the views he'll never forget.
Back in the town of Banff Adam geared up for fat biking with Bikescape through Banff's icy trails, where he even spotted a helm of elk along the way.
After a day full of activities, Adam then headed to Park Distillery to fuel up, skipping the gin for a locally famous bison burger and washing it down with a Mountain Joe Shaft.
Day 02
Adam started his second day with a bucket list ice walk through Johnson Canyon with Discover Banff Tours were frozen waterfalls which created the most remarkable experience Adam's ever done in his life.
He then headed to the summit of Sulphur Mountain on the Banff Gondola, where 360-degree views left him in awe. "One of the most spectacular views I think you could ever see" he said.
While Adam didn't dine at the summit himself, he highlighted two options as great additions for anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind dining experience with panoramic mountain views: Sky Bistro and Northern Lights.
To end the evening on the top of Sulphur Mountain, Adam attended to Nightrise, an immersive story telling experience where Adam got to learn about the connection between the land and the local Stoney Nakoda Nation. "I could imagine everyone having so much fun up here," Adam said, as the mountaintop came alive with sound, light, and culture.
Day 03
Adam continued his winter adventure by lacing up his skates for a spin on the iconic rink at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, calling it the perfect way to enjoy the lake in the winter months: "When winter comes around and this lake freezes over, it's time to get your skates on."
Then it was off to a horse-drawn sleigh ride along the snowy lakeshore. "You'd be mistaken to think we're in a movie, we've got the snow, the horses, the sleigh, the Fairmont Chateau... it doesn't get much better than this."
He later unwound over afternoon tea in the Fairview Tea Room at Chateau Lake Louise, enjoying the classic three-tier tower while taking in the views.
Day 04
Next, Adam experienced the Canadian Rocky Mountains from a new perspective on a tour with Alpine Helicopters', where the views left him speechless. "If you think the Rocky Mountains look amazing from the ground, wait 'til you see them from above," he said. Even the pilot shared that he sees something new every time.
Back in Banff, Adam headed to the Fairmont Spa at the Fairmont Banff Springs to soak in the hot tub with mountain views all around.
For dinner, Adam sat down at Good Folk in downtown Banff, where he enjoyed a local stream trout dish prepared by the head chef.
