Roam Transit operates several bus routes to many top attractions in Banff and Lake Louise. If you're visiting the sights, take a ride on one of the Roam Transit environment-friendly hybrid buses for a fun, convenient, and inexpensive way to get around and enjoy the views. 

Route 1: Banff Avenue to Sulphur Mountain

This daily, year-round service runs from Banff Avenue and up Sulphur Mountain to the historic Banff Upper Hot Springs, Rimrock Resort Hotel, and Banff Gondola.

Route 2: Tunnel Mountain to Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel

This daily, year-round service runs from Tunnel Mountain Village 1 and Village 2 campgrounds to the town centre, and then on to Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.

This daily, year-round service departs every 30 to 60 minutes from Monday to Friday, and every 60 minutes on Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.

Route 5: Canmore Local

This daily, year-round service departs every 30 to 60 minutes from Monday to Friday, every 30 minutes on Saturday, and every 60 minutes on Sunday and holidays. This route provides service throughout the town of Canmore, including downtown, Three Sisters, and Cougar Creek.

Route 7: Banff Centre

This daily, year-round service departs every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and 4 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and runs from Banff Avenue up to the scenic Surprise Corner, and on to the Banff Centre

ROAM TRANSIT FARES

Frequency and fares vary by route number, please see the section below for specific times and prices.

Unlimited Day Passes: Route 1, 2, 7

  • Adults (19+): $5
  • Senior (65+) or Youth (13-18): $2.50

The easiest way to pay is to use the Token Transit app which you can use to purchase any of the Roam transit fares. Using the app, you can purchase passes using credit or debit cards and board the bus by showing the driver the unique pass displayed on your phone. 

You can also purchase fares or passes and redeem vouchers at the Roam Transit customer service centre, participating partners, or on the bus with exact change.

BANFF GONDOLA SHUTTLE

The Banff Gondola shuttle picks up from Elk + Avenue Hotel (333 Banff Avenue) and Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (405 Spray Avenue). The shuttles run every 20 to 30 minutes from May to October.

The shuttle is free with admission to the gondola.

MT. NORQUAY SHUTTLE

This summer shuttle service offers transportation between downtown Banff (Banff Train Station, Banff Avenue at Elk Street, and Banff Park Lodge), the Juniper Hotel, and Mt. Norquay from May to October. From Mt. Norquay, you can explore the Sightseeing Chairlift, Via Ferrata, Cliffhouse Bistro, and hiking adventures.

Route 8S: Banff to Lake Louise (Scenic)

From June to September, the 8S Scenic service offers a leisurely scenic trip between Banff and Lake Louise along the Bow Valley Parkway.  This service arrives at the same final destinations in Lake Louise but provides additional optional stops/destinations along the way.

Lake Louise and Moraine Lake

To support the national effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 and encourage Canadians to stay home, Parks Canada has closed all national parks to visitors until further notice. This includes visitor centres, parking lots and motor vehicle access to most secondary roads in Banff National Park. Shuttle reservations for Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, which were scheduled to launch on April 1, 2020, have been temporarily suspended. Details on shuttle reservations and operations for the 2020 season will be released as they become available. Sign up to receive alerts informing you when reservations are open and for information on how best to explore Banff National Park car-free.

  • Shuttles from the Lake Louise Park and Ride to the Lake Louise Lakeshore will depart every 15 minutes from 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. 
  • The last shuttle departing the Lake Louise Lakeshore to the Lake Louise Park and Ride will be at 7:45 p.m.

Lake Louise and Moraine Lake Connector

From May 22 - October 12, 2020, Parks Canada will offer Lake Connector shuttles between the Lake Louise Lakeshore and Moraine Lake and are included in the purchase of a Lake Louise or Moraine Lake Parks Canada shuttle.  Visitors can travel in either direction and visit both lakes. Reservation holders need to show proof of purchase for Lake Connector shuttle entry. Seats are first come first served

Park and Ride Connector Shuttle

Previously known as the Lake Louise Overflow Parking Area (5.5km east of Lake Louise on Highway 1), the Lake Louise Park and Ride will help visitors easily access the Lake Louise area. Several shuttle services will offer access to both Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. New for 2020, walk-up seats are not permitted for shuttles going to Lake Louise or Moraine Lake. Overflow camping will still be available. 

Lake Louise Village and Campground Connector Shuttle

From May 15 - October 12, 2020, when staying in the Lake Louise Village or campground, and visiting Lake Louise or Moraine Lake, take the free Park and Ride Connector shuttle. This service will be available between the Lake Louise Park and Ride, Lake Louise Village, and the Lake Louise Campground.

Use this route to pick up Roam Transit in Lake Louise Village or a Parks Canada shuttle at the Lake Louise Park and Ride.

Schedule

  • Shuttles leave from the Lake Louise campground every 15 minutes from 8:15 a.m. - 8:15 p.m.
  • The last shuttle returning to the village and campground leaves the Park and Ride at 8 p.m.

LAKE LOUISE GONDOLA SHUTTLE

If you are driving to Lake Louise, consider parking at the Lake Louise Gondola, where you can also hike, sightsee, and enjoy one of the restaurants. A free bus service transfers guests between Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Samson Mall, and the Lake Louise Gondola

There are multiple daily departures with schedules subject to change according to gondola operating hours.
